The man behind Marcus guitars

With the help of an older brother, Marc Terreur (°September 29th, 1961) masters his first chords on steel-string around the age of ten. This event, trivial as it may seem, triggers the passion for music that has marked his life ever since.

Few years later, Marc can be found jamming with school mates. It's the classic case of the-bass-player-leaving that urges him to make the switch to 4-string, still his favorite instrument today. The initial Korean, however, is soon replaced by a black maple-neck Precision. Upon this axe, the first customizing efforts of the builder-to-be are performed.

Still, it's not until 1992 that (driven by his love for both music and wood sculpting) Marc Terreur finds his way to the local School of Lutherie, the Centrum voor Muziekinstrumentenbouw in Puurs (Belgium). His leaning towards the extraordinary results in two prototypes, pictured elsewhere on this site: a 7-string bass, and a hybrid electric guitar that combines an under-saddle piezo pickup with a Strat configuration.

In 1995, Marc Terreur sets up a business under the name of Marcus Guitars & Basses. Apart from his activities as an instrument builder and designer, he also does repairs for several shops in the Antwerp and Waasland regions. And for you, of course.
